Advice And Care
Jewellery Care Guide
Everyday Jewellery Care
Jewellery should always be handled with care. Remove your pieces before any contact with water, including handwashing, showering or bathing, as well as before applying cosmetic or corrosive products such as lotions, creams and perfumes, which may cause lasting damage to metals, stones or pearls.
Jewellery should also be removed before sports activities, visiting the beach or swimming in a pool, as chlorine and seawater can cause tarnishing and other deterioration. Keep your pieces away from intense heat and sudden temperature changes.
When handling bracelets, ensure their mechanisms are fully open to avoid unnecessary pressure on the metal.
Jewellery Cleaning
Your jewellery may be cleaned gently at home using a very soft brush and soapy water. After cleaning, rinse the piece thoroughly in clean water and dry with a soft cloth. For creations containing delicate or valuable stones, professional cleaning is strongly recommended to ensure the piece is cared for correctly.
Jewellery Storage
To avoid scratches, jewellery pieces should be stored separately, ideally in their original case, with mechanisms closed. Chains should also be fastened and laid flat to prevent knots or tangling.
Stone Care Guide
Precious stones and materials possess enduring beauty, but they require careful attention to preserve their natural brilliance. Proper maintenance ensures they continue to shine over time. After swimming, rinse any water-resistant watches in clean water to eliminate the harmful effects of chlorine or seawater.
Diamond Care
Diamonds are exceptionally hard and resilient, making them suitable for daily wear. However, sharp impacts should be avoided. They may be cleaned using warm, soapy water and dried with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
Sapphire & Ruby Care
Although naturally hard, sapphires and rubies are still sensitive to knocks and must be handled with care to avoid scratching or chipping. These gemstones do not tolerate ultrasonic cleaning. Periodic in-store cleaning is recommended to ensure they remain in excellent condition.
Emerald Care
Emeralds require delicate handling, as they are particularly vulnerable to scratches and chips. They cannot withstand rhodium plating or ultrasonic cleaning and should be kept away from liquids, heat, perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals. Professional cleaning is strongly advised to prevent accidental damage.
Mother-of-Pearl & Pearl Care
Mother-of-pearl and pearls are very sensitive to friction and can be scratched easily. They should be protected from contact with liquids, heat, perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals. Ultrasonic cleaning must not be used on these materials. Care may be taken with a soft cloth only.
Onyx Care
Onyx must be handled carefully, as it is susceptible to scratches and knocks. It can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a small soft brush before being dried gently with a soft cloth. Onyx does not tolerate solvents and should be kept away from them.
Malachite Care
Malachite is particularly sensitive to scratches, friction and impact. Contact with liquids, perfumes and household products should be avoided entirely. As malachite does not tolerate ultrasonic cleaning, maintenance should consist only of wiping gently with a soft, dry cloth.
Moissanite Care
Moissanite can be cleaned using warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, ensuring it is rinsed thoroughly and dried with a lint-free cloth. Commercial jewellery cleaners suitable for gemstones may also be used, and a lightly diluted ammonia solution can occasionally assist with deeper cleaning, provided the stone is rinsed well afterwards. Harsh chemicals, including bleach and other abrasive agents, should be avoided.
Moissanite jewellery should be stored separately in a soft pouch or jewellery box to prevent scratching and to preserve its brilliance.
